2016 | While running a charity for refugees in Greece, I’d pop over to Dubai every now and then to do some freelance videography for them bills. The contrast going from a dilapidated refugee camp to a luxury film shoot in Dubai was jarring to say the least. Admittedly, this period of time affected my mental health quite deeply, as it was hard for me to not feel guilty about the privileges I get to enjoy in this life. The mental shift finally came when I was able to accept that I had to turn my energy into being constructive as I gave public talks to help spread awareness and use my video skills to fund my personal expenses. This was when I could fully embrace this double life I felt I was leading and be proud of the work I was doing; whether humanitarian or corporate luxury.
